From Marrakech: 4 -Day Trek to Mount Toubkal

The ideal place to get a glimpse of the Moroccan mountains: alpine relief, stone villages and terraces clinging to the side of narrow valleys, traditional way of life. With the aim of climbing Toubkal.

The detailed program of the trek:
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil
Departure from your hotel to reach Imlil, a mountain village at the foot of Toubkal.
Installation at the lodge; tea and traditional lunch await you on the terrace.
Hike with the guide to climb to Tizi n'Tamatert (2272 m), and possibly to a small peak above. Both for acclimatization, for the beauty of the landscape, and also for the discovery of the way of life of the Berbers of the mountain.
Night at Auberge Armed . Quality lodge, with a superb view, run by Hamid, Imlil-Trekking guide. Possibility of traditional beldi hammam at the lodge (price: 50 Dhs, indicative).

Day 2: Climb to the Toubkal refuge
After a good breakfast on the terrace of the lodge, the luggage is loaded onto the mules, and off we go for the climb to the refuge. Aremd, a small village and marabout of Sidi Chamarouch, and by large curves the path climbs towards the refuge. Picnic at midday on the way, prepared by the local team.
Night at the Toubkal refuge (Neltner refuge, 3210 m).
5 h 30 of walking – M = 1,200 m.
Day 3: Toubkal summit (4167m) – descent into the valley
The ascent to the summit, on a good path and good tracks, presents no difficulty, except the altitude. The path goes up a steep valley to emerge on the wide ridge that leads to the summit. From there, you dominate a large part of the Atlas, the plains of Haouz to the north, Lake Ifni to the south, and an endless horizon towards Ouarzazate and the desert.
The descent is done by the same route and, from the refuge, after lunch, return to the valley.
Night in a gîte in Village. Armed
9 hours of walking – M = 1050 m – D = 2270 m.
Day 4: Armed – Marrakech
Short descent to Imlil. The driver waits in the village to take you back to Marrakech where you arrive at the end of the morning

Equipment to be provided:
Sleeping bag, a large bag for clothes, a small daypack, walking shoes, sandals for the evening, fleece, personal medication, water purification tablets, sunscreen, gloves, hat, a pair of sunglasses, cap, camera, a torch (headlamp), spare batteries, toiletry bag.
